# Connect your AI assistant with MCP

Add the TrySlides remote MCP server to a compatible AI client using OAuth.

## Check client support first [#check-client-support-first]

Your AI client must support **adding a custom remote MCP server**, **Streamable HTTP**, and **OAuth with dynamic client registration and PKCE**. Availability may depend on the client's plan or organization policy. A chat interface alone does not guarantee MCP support.

You need a TrySlides Google account. You do not need this repository, a server installation, a plugin archive or an API key.

## Connect [#connect]

1. Open your client's custom MCP connection settings.
2. Add a server named **TrySlides** with this URL: **https://tryslides.app/api/mcp**.
3. Start authorization, sign in to TrySlides and review the consent screen.
4. Approve only the document scope and actions needed.
5. Return to the client and confirm that the TrySlides tools are available.

Do not use `/api/mcp/oauth` as the server URL. Do not paste Google, Supabase or database tokens into client settings.

## Installation with add-mcp [#installation-with-add-mcp]

As an alternative to each client's commands, you can use [add-mcp](https://github.com/neon-solutions/add-mcp), a third-party tool that adds the server configuration to selected clients. You need Node.js and `npx`:

```sh
npx add-mcp https://tryslides.app/api/mcp --name tryslides
```

Select your client and confirm the configuration. By default, it is saved in the current project; use `--global` to save it in your user configuration. This does not replace OAuth authorization: authenticate afterward in your client.

## Codex installation [#codex-installation]

```sh
codex mcp add tryslides --url https://tryslides.app/api/mcp
codex mcp login tryslides
codex mcp list
codex
```

Complete authorization in your browser and use `codex mcp list` to confirm that TrySlides is configured. If you already added the server, use `codex mcp login tryslides` to authorize again.

## Claude Code installation [#claude-code-installation]

For a client with Claude Code's HTTP MCP command, add the connection:

```sh
claude mcp add --transport http tryslides https://tryslides.app/api/mcp
claude
```

Use `/mcp` inside Claude Code to authenticate. Check the [official client guide](https://code.claude.com/docs/en/mcp) if your installed version differs.

For other clients, use their remote-server connection UI and the same endpoint; do not copy a configuration schema from a different client.

## Test and manage access [#test-and-manage-access]

Ask the assistant to report available TrySlides capabilities and your usage balance before editing. A connection does not grant access to every presentation unless you approved that scope.

Manage permissions and revoke access in [Connections](/en/settings/connections). Increasing permissions requires fresh authorization. When authorization expires, reconnect rather than sharing credentials in chat.

Continue with [AI workflows](/en/docs/ai/workflows) and [usage limits](/en/docs/ai/usage).
