# Choose an export format

Compare editable .tryslides packages, standalone HTML, PDF and plain text.

## Download a presentation [#download-a-presentation]

Open the presentation menu in the editor or presentations list and choose the download format. Owner exports are available on Free and do not consume MCP units when performed manually.

| Format | Best for | Preserves | Does not provide |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `.tryslides` | Editing and portable backup | Editable content, assets, themes and Steps | A hosted sharing link |
| HTML | Browser playback | Animations, Steps and interactions | Reimport into TrySlides |
| PDF | Static handouts | Base and each Step as separate pages | Selectable text, animations, interactive links |
| TXT | Reusing written content | Text with slide/Step headings | Images, styling, geometry or OCR |

## PDF details [#pdf-details]

Each slide contributes Base followed by every Step in order, even unchanged Steps. Pages are rendered images in the PDF at the slide's aspect ratio. Assets must be available locally. An export error does not produce a partial download.

## Plain-text details [#plain-text-details]

Text export includes changed or newly visible Step text, without repeating unchanged text for geometry-only changes. Empty slides retain headings. Fully transparent text is omitted. Outlined text is geometry and cannot be extracted as text.

## Limits and portability [#limits-and-portability]

Portable packages are bounded to 100 MiB, with at most 100 image/font resources combined and 25 MiB per resource. Remote MCP exports also have bounded resources and a 100-page PDF limit. These are separate from cloud storage quotas.

TrySlides imports **only `.tryslides`**, not HTML, PDF, PPTX, TXT or generic ZIP. PPTX export is not available. See [import](/en/docs/files/import).

A downloaded file is a copy: revoking a hosted share link cannot erase a file someone already downloaded.
