# Import an editable .tryslides presentation

Open a portable presentation and understand what file imports support.

## Import a presentation [#import-a-presentation]

1. Download or obtain a `.tryslides` file from a trusted source.
2. Use Import in the presentations workspace or editor.
3. Select the file and review the preview/confirmation when shown.
4. Confirm the import and inspect the slides, images and Steps.

Import creates fresh presentation and content identities. It is a new editable copy, not a command to overwrite an existing cloud document. Imported local presentations need explicit adoption to synchronize.

## Supported files [#supported-files]

Only `.tryslides` is accepted for presentation import. Renaming a PDF, PPTX or arbitrary ZIP does not convert it. HTML and TXT are exports, not import formats.

The importer validates the archive, manifest, byte sizes, checksums, supported document structure and referenced resources before saving. Invalid packages do not leave a partially imported presentation.

## When import fails [#when-import-fails]

Check that the file is complete and was generated for the supported format. A checksum error can mean the document or resource bytes were edited without updating the manifest. Oversized resources must be reduced and the package rebuilt.

For agents and programmers, use the [portable-format reference](/en/docs/ai/tryslides-format) and its tested example. Do not assume a `.tryslides` file is plain JSON.
