# Make elements clickable

Navigate to slides and Steps or open a URL during presentation playback.

## Add an interaction [#add-an-interaction]

1. Select the element in Base or the Step where it should be interactive.
2. In Properties, select the plus button beside **Interactions**.
3. Choose an event, action and destination.
4. Save the interaction and test it in Present mode.

Use the edit button on an existing interaction to change or delete it. Closing an unsaved form discards the draft.

## Events and actions [#events-and-actions]

Events are **Click**, **Hover** and **Mouse leave**, with one action per event per state. Actions can navigate to Base, a named Step, the next/previous Step, a named slide, the next/previous slide, or a URL.

Opening a URL is Click-only and accepts HTTP/HTTPS destinations. Missing destinations appear unavailable and do not execute. Interactions navigate; they do not directly change visual properties. Use Steps for those changes.

## Example: interactive solar system [#example-interactive-solar-system]

Build an overview in Base. Add a Step that focuses on Earth and another that focuses on Mars. On the overview planets, add Click interactions targeting their respective Steps. In each detail Step, add a Back element with a Click interaction targeting Base.

Interactions belong to their state. Adding a Back interaction in Base does not automatically add it to every Step.

## Test the delivery format [#test-the-delivery-format]

Interactions run in presentation playback and standalone HTML, not while editing. PDF does not preserve interactive links or controls. Hover is not a reliable primary interaction for touch audiences; provide a Click path.
