Templates and slide layouts
Start with a complete design or choose one of three slide compositions.
Read as MarkdownStart from a template
Browse templates in the presentations workspace. Preview the slides, choose a design and create your own presentation from it. Templates contain editable presentation elements, not flat screenshots.
Replace wording and images, rearrange objects and adjust the theme. Your copy is independent of the original template. Templates have their own theme foundation, which is also the target of Reset to Default.
Choose a slide layout
There are currently three layout recipes:
| Layout | Starting composition |
|---|---|
| Blank | An empty slide |
| Split media | Image area beside title and body text |
| Centered overlay | Full-slide image with centered text |
A layout gives you a starting arrangement. Its content remains editable afterward; it is not a restriction on where you can place elements.
Do not confuse layout, theme and format
- Template: a ready-made presentation to personalize.
- Layout: the starting arrangement of one slide.
- Theme: coordinated visual defaults.
- Canvas format: the fixed 1920 × 1080, 16:9 presentation frame.
- Export format:
.tryslides, HTML, PDF or text.
The three layouts are not three aspect ratios. Per-slide canvas formats are not supported.
Next: customize a theme or add images.
